GARY ALLAN SURPRISED BY GREATEST HITS AND HAPPY WITH FIRST SINGLE

Gary Allan was a little surprised when it seemed right to do a greatest hits package, and he was amazed how many years it spanned.

"You know what it doesn't seem like 11 years, it blew by...I mean looking back and seeing all the stuff we recorded and accomplished it's an amazing thing.

We started the new album and they decided we needed to do that and that's tough to take I think because in your eyes and in my eyes you're thinking, who's gonna buy a greatest hits? I was amazed we were even able to put together enough stuff together to have one. It was pretty cool to do."

It was a profitable thing to do since Gary Allan's Greatest Hits debuted at #1, thanks in part to the strong new single from the collection that Gary says was as straight down the pike as he goes musically.

"A Feeling Like That," I actually got that song from John Lytle, my manager. It was a time when I wanted something really rockin' and we had to get a single on the radio and, you know what, this one just stuck out, this is as down the pike that I go. It was written by David Lee Murphy and Kim Tribble and Ira Dean and I've written with all three of them and great writers and great guys
