Gary Allan Credits Father With Lessons That Led to SuccessSara Kauss, WireImage Music is in Gary Allan’s genes. The California native, who started playing music before he could drive a car, credits his late father, Harley, with teaching him the most valuable lessons of his career. “I played bars with my dad since I was 12, three to five nights a week with my brother,” the 44-year-old recalls.
